{"id":1879,"date":"2013-02-12T15:09:02","date_gmt":"2013-02-12T23:09:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rtw4four.com\/RTW4Four\/?p=1879"},"modified":"2013-02-12T15:09:02","modified_gmt":"2013-02-12T23:09:02","slug":"pen-names-and-puro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rtw4four.com\/RTW4Four\/2013\/02\/12\/pen-names-and-puro\/","title":{"rendered":"Pen Names and Puro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it seems like Valparaiso is a pretty good place for \u201cdown days.\u201d Today the only touristy thing we did was go to La Sebastiana, the home of Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda.<\/p>\n<p>Before that, Dad and Ethan mailed home our box while Mom and I went shopping.<\/p>\n<p>Pablo Neruda was originally the pen name and eventually legal name of Neftali Ricardo Reyes Basoalto. He chose the name after Czech poet Jan Neruda.<\/p>\n<p>We went down to Puro Caf\u00e9, where we ate three sandwiches, one quesadilla, and one baguette along with Dad\u2019s mocha and four 350-milliliter bottles of water. We sat around the table talking for a long time before going to get ice cream. Dad was majorly disappointed in the flavor selection but went ahead with getting the half-liter anyway. He ended up getting coconut, cappuccino, raspberry, and Italian chocolate. I got Cappuccino, and Ethan chose Italian chocolate and raspberry. (Dad had been hoping for cinnamon and orange.)<\/p>\n<p>Apparently Carnaval ended today, which is when we thought it was starting. Oh, well.
